Stepping Up Efforts to Foster Circular Economy
UBE Corporation Europe (UCE) has announced that it started to produce and sell sustainable and ISCC PLUS1 certified caprolactam in its plant in Castellón (Spain). UCE was the first within the UBE Group to achieve this certificate in 2022, and it took a consistent step forward, starting to utilize non-fossil origin material for its caprolactam manufacturing.
Caprolactam is a raw material for applications such as textile and industrial yarns, carpet BCF, raw materials for engineering plastics Nylon 6 fiber, and Nylon 6 resin. UBE has achieved world-leading quality and secured stable supply based on its years of experience and the technologies developed since starting to manufacture caprolactam in 1956 in Japan.
This new product, sustainable caprolactam, can be produced from 3 different feedstocks;
1. Biobased
2. Circular
3. Bio-Circular
UCE has already obtained the certification ISCC PLUS to produce and sell products utilizing circular and biobased raw materials allocated by the mass-balance method2. International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) is an international certification system designed to promote the establishment and validation of a sustainable supply chain. ISCC PLUS focuses on globally available products made with circular and biobased raw materials.
Under the ISCC PLUS certification, UCE has various sustainable certified products with excellent performance and quality.
Certificated company name | Product |
UBE Corporation Europe S.A.U. | Caprolactam, Polyamide, 1,6-Hexanediol, 1,5-Pentanediol, Polycarbonatediol |
