Ammonium sulfate is a white odorless solid product. It is an inorganic crystalline salt obtained through chemical synthesis by neutralization of sulfuric acid with ammonia. Ammonium sulfate can also be obtained in the caprolactam manufacturing process. The main application for ammonium sulfate is as a fertilizer, but it is also used in a wide variety of industrial applications. Industrial grade ammonium sulfate is a white crystalline product that is highly soluble in water and has a very low level of organic impurities as well as a very low heavy metal content. Industrial grade ammonium sulfate is not to be used in food, animal feed or pharmaceutical applications.
