Product Stewardship

Our goal is to reach the highest level of customer satisfaction, so we are committed to listening to our customers and their needs and to doing our best to comply with customers’ specific requirements, providing on-demand letters.

In order to be well informed about legal requirements and their compliance, we monitor legislation continuously.

REACH is the law to control chemicals in the European Union. It was published as Regulation 1907/2006 and its main objective is to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals.

REACH is governed by the ECHA (European Chemical Agency) and includes the registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemical substances. It means that companies must register all substances that are manufactured or imported into the EU at ≥ 1 ton/year, and demonstrate how the substance can be safely used.
If the risks cannot be managed, authorities can in particular:

– Prohibit the manufacture and uses of the substance. Only bodies showing safe use/s can get continued ECHA Authorization.

– Restrict some uses of the substances under a REACH Restriction.

We have completed more than 35 REACH registrations and monitor REACH changes daily in order to be well informed about the current chemicals situation and also about changes expected in the near future. REACH compliance certificates and information about SVHCs (Substances of Very High Concern) are available for all our products. You can get them through your usual contact person.

As we are very committed to REACH targets and are fully aware of the industry’s contributions, in September 2019 we joined CEFIC’s voluntary REACH Action Plan for Review/Improvement of Dossiers.

Safety Data Sheets

As stipulated by REACH regulations, Safety Data Sheets are to be available for products classified as hazardous by CLP Regulation (Regulation 1272/2008) and provided in the official languages of the European Union recipient countries.

As we are very concerned about the necessity for the industry´s transparency, Safety Data Sheets are available for all our products, independently of their classification.

In addition, as we market products in different countries of the 5 continents, we also prepare Safety Data Sheets in accordance with the specific legislation/standards of such countries/areas and in their applicable official languages.

We have Safety Data Sheets available for more than 15 countries.

You can obtain them through your usual contact person.

Other Chemicals Control Laws

Similar to REACH in the European Union, some other Registration schemes and/or Inventories of Existing Chemicals may apply in each country where a product is marketed.

UBE Corporation Europe, S.A.U. has completed or is working on registrations in USA-TSCA, notifications to the Canadian DSL/NDSL, notifications to the Chinese Inventory of Existing Chemical Substances (IECSC), notifications to the new Eurasian inventory of chemicals and pre-registrations to the KKDIK (Turkish-REACH), among others.

Chemicals Laws per Application:

Besides the general chemical control laws existing in each area, different requirements apply to the products depending on the application for which they are going to be marketed:

  • Fertilizers
  • Food flavorings
  • Cosmetics
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Automotive
  • Industrial

Special focus should be done to our experience in Food Contact Materials, providing compliance letters in accordance with different legislation, such as: Regulation EU 10/2011, USA FDA, MERCOSUR, ANVISA, China, Japan, Canada Positive List, and more.

You can obtain them through your usual contact person.
