1,5-pentanediol (CAS number 111-29-5) is based on an aliphatic chain with primary hydroxyl groups, making it highly reactive and useful for the manufacture of a variety of derivatives. 1,5-pentanediol is a raw material for polyurethane coatings, polyester resins and UV-curing materials. 1,5-pentane diol is also used as a pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediate.
