Our sense of coexistence and mutual prosperity has been inspiring us for 50 years, along with the local institutions, representative groups and NGOs closest to our headquarters, contributing to our community’s aspirations for social and sustainable progress.
UBE Corporation Europe has an active relationship in communication, exchange and cooperation with various social actors in its surroundings, including the following:
We actively participate in consultation forums for design and improvement of the city of Castellón and in many of its activities for internationalization and promotion of SDGs: Spain-Europe-Japan International Congress; DivAirCity Project; INNULSO Spanish network of Science and Innovation Cities, etc. In Almazora we contribute to the Entrepreneurial Spirit Development Program and Darremur Harmonic environmental education infrastructure.
As operators of a logistics terminal for chemical product unloading and storage in the Port of Castellón, we are part of its active port community, contributing to economic development in the province. We are also collaborators in the Port of Castellón Foundation and participate in the jury for the Faro Awards presented by the Port Authority.
We are actively involved in the initiatives of the Chamber of Commerce and other business organizations in our environment to promote business internationalization and social and economic development through dialog, cooperation and multilateral negotiation.
We believe that promoting education is key to sustainable development of the society in which we live, as well as for our company.
The university, known as the UJI, is a source of knowledge and talent for us, meaning we can look to the future with confidence. A large number of its graduates have joined our staff over the years, and several dozen students practice at UBE each year. Our company regularly signs R&D agreements with UJI research departments and institutes and it funds the Mobility Fellowships Program with Japan and the Masters’ Courses in Energy Efficiency and Sustainability and Industrial Process Management.
UBE has given theoretical and practical training to students of the Chemical Plant Operation Training Cycle in Castellón over recent years. We provide students from other professional training cycles with various types of work practice, and receive school groups in our facilities for our staff to share their experiences as part of students’ initial training and contact with the labor market.
UBE’s Volunteer Group, made up of volunteer staff, plan and carry out humanitarian activities involving the rest of the staff and their families, connecting with NGOs and local entities. From supporting the organization of sporting events to charitable activities in combination with the Red Cross or the non-profit organization “Caritas de Castellón” (collecting food, visiting hospitalized children, collecting toys), to days of planting trees and cleaning up places around Almazora.
We are an active member of the CSR Board of Castellón, a forum made up of companies and NGOs from the province that promotes Corporate Social Responsibility. We have also developed a program for sponsorship and collaboration with several regional NGOs, such as Cáritas, the Red Cross, the association supporting people with intellectual disabilities, Afanías, Down Syndrome, the Spanish Cancer Association, the Adecco Foundation and the autism support center, El CAU.
We have a program of sponsorships to sports clubs and various athletic events in Castellón and Almazora to promote sports activities in grass-roots clubs and where children are involved.
We contribute to the organizing of festivities for Castellón’s patron saint and collaborate with the “MARTE” contemporary art fair to support young creative artists.
