In an event held in Madrid on June 6, the director of the Department of Employment, Diversity and Social Protection of CEOE, Rosa Santos, together with the general director of Feique, Juan Antonio Labat, recognized the security achievement of 29 companies in the chemical sector. On behalf of UBE Corporation Europe, Miguel Ángel González Granados, Safety and Environment supervisor, collected the award for having achieved “zero accidents” during the last year.
During the event, the Chemical Sector Occupational Accident Report 2023 was made public, a study that includes the classification of accidents with sick leave that took place last year, as well as the statistical indices of the companies associated with Feique, in the field of the safety and health of workers.
As explained during the presentation of the Report, according to data from the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, the chemical sector presented an accident incidence rate of 9 in 2023 (number of accidents occurred per thousand people exposed), a figure that was 5 times lower than that registered by the manufacturing industry as a whole (index of 45), 3 times lower than the national average (index of 27.15) and 6.7 times lower than the construction sector (index of 60.85).
Like most companies in the chemical sector affiliated with the Federation, UBE applies the international Responsible Care program for the continuous improvement of occupational health and safety, environmental protection and ESG aspects. After more than 35 years of implementation in Spain, Responsible Care has contributed to significantly raising the safety levels of the sector and promoting the application of best practices in the field of prevention and safety in a sector made up of more than 233,000 direct jobs.
