Air brake tubing for trucks, buses and trailers must meet demanding requirements, including burst pressure resistance, impact resistance, chemical resistance and long-term durability. At the same time, manufacturers need solutions that combine reliable performance with good processability and cost efficiency.
ECOBESTA®-Lite is UBE’s three-layer tube system for air brake applications, combining PA12 and PA6 in a simplified multilayer structure. Direct adhesion between PA12 and PA6 eliminates the need for a tie layer, while maintaining the interlayer adhesion required for these applications. The system is designed to meet stringent OEM requirements while simplifying the tube architecture compared with more complex multilayer configurations.
The system provides excellent impact resistance at low temperatures, chemical resistance and processability, together with strong mechanical properties. Its multilayer concept also allows tube properties to be balanced through different PA6 core materials, enabling burst pressure and tube stiffness to be tailored according to final performance requirements. This flexibility allows the tube structure to be adapted to specific performance targets while maintaining the same basic design.
ECOBESTA®-Lite is available with black and natural PA12, with the natural version enabling customised colours. The system also maintains direct interlayer adhesion when recycled PA6 is used.
Alongside its technical performance, ECOBESTA®-Lite provides a cost-effective alternative to conventional tube solutions. According to UBE data, it delivers performance comparable to high-pressure monolayer PA12 (PHLY) tubes while offering a lower-cost alternative to market multilayer solutions, with a cost reduction of 20% indicated in the comparison.
