Film applications can demand very different combinations of processability and performance., From optical properties and flexibility, to barrier performance, hydrolysis resistance or dimensional stability, the right polyamide depends on the processing technology, film structure and requirements of the final application.
UBE offers a broad range of UBE NYLON grades for food packaging and agriculture applications, covering PA6, PA6/6.6, PA6/6.6/12, PA6/12 and PA12 materials. The portfolio includes different viscosity levels and material configurations designed to address different processing and film performance requirements.
Within the PA6 range, UBE provides basic, nucleated, modified and retortable grades. Specific options are available for high optical properties, BOPA processing or triple bubble processes. Modified grades for triple bubble applications can provide improved shrinkability, good slip properties and optimized meat adhesion, while a retortable option additionally offers hydrolysis resistance.
The PA6/6.6 portfolio combines different copolymerization ratios with grades developed for requirements such as flexibility, high melting point, optical properties, retort applications and asymmetrical film structures. UBE also offers PA6/6.6/12 and PA6/12 grades for applications requiring superior properties, including options for deep drawing thermoforming and demanding outer-layer applications.
For applications where water vapor barrier and dimensional stability are relevant, the portfolio includes UBESTA 3030XA, a high-viscosity PA12 grade. Across the different material families, UBE also provides grades with EU and FDA food legislation compliance for direct and/or indirect food contact, depending on the specific grade.
