Polyurethane components used in demanding industrial environments require materials capable of maintaining their mechanical performance after prolonged exposure to heat, moisture, chemicals, and weathering. Selecting the appropriate prepolymer is therefore essential to achieve durability while maintaining processing flexibility.
ETERNATHANE® 400U is a polycarbonate-based, MDI-terminated urethane prepolymer available with different free NCO contents, allowing hardness and final polyurethane properties to be adjusted according to application requirements. The ETERNATHANE® 400U series is designed for 2K and 3K systems. It also provides suitable pot life for both machine and hand-batching processes, while performance can be further tailored using standard curatives or mixtures of UBE ETERNACURE curing agents. Its combination of hydrolytic stability and resistance to heat and chemicals helps extend the service life of polyurethane parts in harsh operating environments.
Polyurethanes based on ETERNATHANE® 400U have demonstrated retention of mechanical properties after exposure to hydrolysis, heat, oil, and accelerated weathering under the test conditions described in the technical documentation.
Typical cured polyurethane properties include hardness from 75 to 95 Shore A.
Combined with versatile processing conditions and adjustable formulations, ETERNATHANE® 400U supports the production of polyurethane components designed for applications requiring long-term retention of mechanical performance.
