Universitat Jaume I (Spain) and UBE have signed a cooperation agreement to establish a Chair of Sustainable Plastics at Universitat Jaume I.
The Chair’s main activities will revolve around research into the functionality of plastics from sustainable aspects, as well as education and dissemination on the necessary and important role which this material plays in our society. The Chair will enable to combine knowledge and resources to develop solutions aimed at improving the life cycle of materials and tackling the current global problem.
There are several specific initiatives and projects that will be promoted by the Chair. For educational purposes, there will be a UBE Award for initiatives or projects relating to sustainable plastics. In addition, technical meetings with experts and seminars with companies and other specialists will be organized to pool their knowledge and experience, and there will also be workshops for graduates and postgraduates.
As a part of its research and development activities, the Chair plans to introduce a scholarship focused on the sustainability of polymer materials. In addition, the Chair will launch a website and social network account to spread and transfer information and knowledge.
